Teams

Fundamental Operating Principle:

The KCDC is a community based organization. Wherever possible, the KCDC will work to build collaborations, partnerships and outreach to foster community capacity, education and trust.

Team Structure:

Team members are a mix of employees and volunteers depending on position and role. A Board representative will be appointed to each Team as a liaison to the Board.

Affordable Workforce Housing Team

The Affordable Workforce Housing Team works to support the overall mission of the KCDC through fostering creation of affordable workforce housing that serves the community. In particular, the Team will focus on three key goals:

►    Create adequate affordable workforce housing in collaboration with the City of Ketchum, KURA and other appropriate entities:

•       Participate in the design and development of an affordable workforce housing demonstration project, emphasizing best practices in place making and housing livability.

•       Based on experience from the demonstration project, work with the City and KURA to design and develop a series of affordable workforce housing projects in and around Ketchum

►   Collaborate with Blaine County Housing Authority, City of Ketchum and other appropriate entities to ensure that appropriate affordable housing regulatory and management guidelines are adopted and used.

►   Seek and promote best practices in the design and development of affordable workforce housing. Best practices in the following areas are especially important:

•       Quality of living space

•       Fostering sense of community within housing projects

•       Green construction

•       Creative funding/financing

•       Cash flow to support continued housing construction

Toward these ends, the Team will work with the City of Ketchum, KURA and other appropriate entities to establish a team approach to the design, funding, construction and management of affordable workforce housing. Teamwork with the Ketchum Urban Renewal Agency is especially important.

Sustainability Team

The Sustainability Team serves to support the overall mission of the KCDC through developing a comprehensive plan for the City of Ketchum to lead in sustainability. The Team will facilitate sustainable community development practices via research and advocacy for leading edge alternative energy systems, technology and environmental management practices. Wherever possible, the Team will seek and support acquisition of resources to implement and/or sustain these practices.

Scope of Work:

Interview and hire outside consulting firm, Open Spaces Northwest, to implement a strategic energy management plan for the City of Ketchum. This includes engagement, goal setting, benchmarking, diagnostics, targeted field analysis, program development, process implementation, and ongoing monitoring.

Measurements:

Energy use, water use, waste numbers, and transportation numbers for city operations. This includes diagnostics and “virtual audits” of buildings and a breakdown of energy use by heating, cooling, thermal baseload, and electric baseload. Carbon emissions and dollars saved will be measured and analyzed. SMART goals will be established for the City, as well as benchmarks and ongoing monitoring and reporting of performance for City operations.

Executive Team

The Executive Team is composed of Board officers. Its mission is to oversee organizational development, operational practices/performance, finances, public relations, and provide regular guidance to the Teams. In addition, the Executive Team will ensure that the following goals are systematically and consistently achieved in company activities:

►     Build partnerships and teams with government, other appropriate organizations and the community to accomplish common goals. The KCDC should become a central organizer of teams in Ketchum and Blaine County to achieve best practices and collaboration in community development.

►    Engage and educate citizens actively in the accomplishment of these goals.

►    Build the KCDC's reputation as a central, primary and highly respectable community development partner in Ketchum and Blaine County.
